How to Apply
We’ve also provided some tips below to help improve your chances of being successful.
The Application Form
(Please note we do NOT do immigrations)
- Complete the online application form (APPLICANTS MUST HAVE A VALID PASSPORT)
- Use only English
- Provide as much information and detail as possible
- Be honest. Untruths on the application will only result in disappointment.
- Include a copy of your ID, Passport and Driver’s License(s)
- Attach your most recent full-length photograph to your application form. The farmer will need to identify you when he collects you from the airport!
The Application Form – Sections on Work and Driving Experience
- List newer model tractor/combine models first – older models can follow
- List tractor/combine/truck make and model (Applicants with limited tractor/combine/truck experience will unfortunately not be accepted)
- Never claim that you are able to do anything for which you don’t have any experience. The farmer can send you back if you are not able to fulfil tasks that you indicated you are able to do
Ensure You are Reachable
- Make sure you provide the correct cellphone number at which we can reach you at any given time. (Preferably a WhatsApp number)
- Please ensure to have airtime and internet access with good reception at all times. Some people have lost their opportunities due not being contactable
- Please provide the correct email address which you check regularly
Cost Estimate
You will need approximately R35000 – your US Visa will cost roughly R4000 plus an additional courier fee of R309, and the rest will be contributed to your two-way air ticket. This money will be refunded by your farmer during your contract period.
Once You’ve Been Selected by a Farmer
- The farmer will have an interview with you via WhatsApp
- If you are successful after the interview, the farmer will send your agent the I-797B document so that they may apply for your Visa online
- Payment for your US Visa is made into Exclusive Placements’ account and the agent will then make payment on your behalf
- Once you have received your US Visa you will be able to book your flight tickets to and from America
Submit Documentation via Courier
- You will need to courier the following documentation to your nearest US Embassy, using DHL:
- Valid South African Passport
- Two (2) American Visa photos
- I-797B Official Document sent to you by the farmer or agent
- DS-160 Confirmation Page (will be sent once online application is completed by the agent)
- The courier certificate (will be sent once online application is completed by the agent)

Once You are in America
- After 10 days of having arrived in America will the farmer make an appointment at their local Homeland Security office for you to apply for your Social Security Number
- Remind the farmer to download and bring along the required I-94 Form and ensure that you take your South African Passport with you
- It will take two (2) weeks before you receive your Social Security Number via postage mail, after which only you will be able to open an American bank account
- Should you require to send money home whilst waiting for your Social Security Number, you will be able to send money back to South Africa at Walmart stores, using a program called Moneygram. Please ensure that you South African bank is able to receive funds from Moneygram
- Once you have an American bank account you will be able to send money to South Africa by using the the following two Apps: World Remit or Remitly
- To apply for a state ID and Driver’s License at your farmer’s local government office, take along the following documents:
- SA Passport
- I-94 Form
- Statement of your American bank account. (This will be used to verify your address to the US Revenue office and identification purposes, therefore you won’t need your passport if you have your bank statements at hand)
